Jackson County offers employment opportunities through numerous state and federal services and institutions.
For example, the Florida Department of Children and Families (formerly HRS) operates two facilities, with a total employment of 970.
Federal Correctional Institutions employ 394, while the Florida Department of Corrections adds an additional 1,089 jobs to the County.

Jackson County provides a workforce that is solid, well motivated and ethical. Much of the workforce is also job ready, thanks to the three vo-tech schools in the area. These schools provide training in such fields as electronic technology, data processing, welding, electrical, machining, and biomedical technology.
Job Service of Florida also works very closely with employers to assist them in their recruiting efforts.
