In partnership with the University of Florida Cooperative Extension Service, Jackson County Development Council (JCDC) will offer Premier FastTrac to area businesses and residents. FastTrac is a tested, comprehensive business development curriculum. It is a practical and effective "how-to" business development program for entrepreneurs. FastTrac is designed to assist entrepreneurs in getting their new ventures off to the right start or to quickly develop the skills they need to grow their business. FastTrac I emphasizes entry strategies for start-up ventures through 32 hour course work. Entrepreneurs identify business opportunities, research the market, expand business concepts, get solid information on how to launch new ventures and develop feasibility plans. FastTrac II works with existing business owners on planning, researching and evaluating the strategic growth and operational aspects of their business. The 45 hour program culminates in the development of a viable business plan by each entrepreneur.
The objective is to increase the number and success rate of small business operations in Jackson County by training citizens to develop and/or sustain small business enterprises that will contribute to the economic viability of the community and the income of the entrepreneur.
JCDC operates a Revolving Loan Fund program (RLF) to provide financing for rural economic development projects to fund the creation or expansion of small business and industry within Jackson County. The RLF is a program aimed at broadening and diversifying the economic base, one that will encourage capital formation for local entrepreneurs and private-sector job creation for members of low and moderate income families.
Funds are made available through USDA's Intermediary Relending Program and the West Florida Electric Cooperative.
JCDC provides management services for the Jackson County Small Business Incubator located in Marianna Industrial Park. The facility will accommodate several start-up or newly established businesses primarily in light manufacturing. Businesses will be able to take advantage of reduced rates for leased space and also have access to a number of shared services such as centralized office support, copy center, conference room, etc.
